Mykonos

As it is well known there were  360 Churches and chapels in Mykonos prior the 2nd world war.
 Locals used to say that churches were as many as... the days of the year!
Today there are almost 600!

     

Local people are mostly Christians orthodox and they are keeping old traditions such as...
  ...fulfilling a vow of a wish already fulfilled, with the building or restoration of a church!
 

Most churches are small, aisle, vaulted with those similar characteristics
 found in many other Greek islands of the Aegean Sea.

Most churches have roofs painted with a very characteristic red brick color
